Weak Monuments
found and altered honeycomb board
2021

An installation of found honeycomb paperboard panels with the facings removed. These were found on the Lower East Side shortly after the remains of Hurricane Ida struck in 2021. They were lashed together in a stack, obscuring the water damage within. Once they were separated, their deterioration was embraced as a starting point from which to further alter them by leaving them outside and rewetting, manipulating, and drying them over a period of several weeks.
